The Venice Conservatory Benedetto Marcello (Conservatorio di Venezia Benedetto Marcello) is among the richest in history. It is housed in the monumental Palazzo Pisani, the largest patrician palace in Venice, located in the heart of the city, a short distance from Piazza San Marco. Embellished with frescoes, statues, marble decorations, stuccos and friezes, it is divided into two internal courtyards separated by airy loggias and large halls on several floors. There are numerous spaces intended for lessons and study, with special rooms for orchestral and choral exercises. The library has about 50,000 volumes, with substantial historical collections. Among the period memorabilia kept in the Music Museum, some objects donated by Richard Wagner stand out. Among the musical schools present is that of electronic music, founded by Giuseppe Sinopoli. Alongside the traditional disciplines, there is a wide range of ancient music courses. Benedetto Marcello maintains intact a tradition of rigor, discipline and selectivity which has always been at the origin of its prestige. (Photo: Concert Hall)
