Associazione Alessandro Marcello
The Alessandro Marcello Association was established in 2012 with the aim of enhancing and making the historical organs present in Venetian churches known to the public. The Association annually offers a rich calendar of concerts with free admission. The concert is an opportunity to let the public hear the organ outside of the liturgical celebration, but always with a sacred repertoire suitable for the place of worship. Thanks to the concert, many instruments that are normally little used are kept under control, implementing any ordinary maintenance interventions that are essential for their functioning. The main event proposed is the Gaetano Callido International Organ Festival, which takes place in the summer. During the months of May and September the Association, in collaboration with the community of Benedictine monks of San Giorgio Maggiore, organizes the Vespers Concerts. In the month of December, the Association offers Advent in Music, during the afternoons of Advent Sundays. Great attention is paid to the choice of programming: from the beginning the Association has always wanted to bring the public closer to the organ. This is done through a variety of programming, in which the organ is combined with other instruments and voices on several occasions and through the installation of a large screen that allows the public to see the musicians engaged in the performance.
