Fondazione Ugo e Olga Levi
The Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation for musical studies onlus was established in 1962 with a deed of donation by Ugo Levi in homage to the will of his wife Olga Brunner and in memory of their shared passion for musical studies. The Statute defines the following purposes: - the destination of Palazzo Giustinian Lolin in Venice as a venue for studies and high-level musical events; - the presence of a library [...] for historical studies on the music of all countries, of all times, of all forms and trends; - the organization of exercises, concerts, conferences, debates and, in general, private or public musical events in the highest expressions, with particular attention to interpretation and composition. The Levi Foundation deals with musicological and ethnomusicological research in the Veneto, national and European context, also with the cataloging and study of musical collections. Over fifty years of experience suggested that research groups could be created on a specific topic and the opportunity to organize seminars and conferences to compare and monitor the outcomes of the respective works was welcomed. Associated with these activities, over the years, a thriving editorial trend and an intense concert program have developed. The Foundation, always in synergy with the world of education, conservatories and universities, has become a point of reference for the numerous organizations committed to spreading culture in the area.
